Pass rusher targets for the Bengals

Which pass rusher is a good fit for the Bengals?

By: Jake Rajala

It’s dreadful that All-Pro DE Trey Hendrickson is injured. He led the league in sacks last season. He appears to bring a lot of heat on the quarterback this season. Unfortunately, He has missed a game, and he is questionable to play this upcoming weekend.

With that said, the Bengals needed more pass rush help, regardless of Hendrickson’s impact. Hence, I’m going to lay out pass rusher targets for the Bengals.

Leonard Floyd

Just as the Bengals looked crisp with the 40 year old Joe Flacco, they could welcome a veteran on the other side of the ball, Leonard Floyd. He could be cheap given his age. Floyd is on a Falcons team that doesn’t have a Top-20 QB. The NFC South is also more soft than the AFC North. Hence, the Bengals could be more desperate than the Bengals.

Bradley Chubb

The Miami Dolphins edge rusher Bradley Chubb has played quite well this season. He has four sacks and five tackles for loss thus far. The sad part is that he’s played well on arguably the NFL’s worst team. If they do a mild rebuild, it makes sense for them to move Chubb.

Jadeveon Clowney

Similar to other faces on this list, Jadeveon Clowney is a bit old (as he’s 32 years old). He could benefit from a pass rusher like Hendrickson hogging all of the attention. He only has 1 sack, but he’s only played in four games thus far. Clowney can drop into coverage well for a DE, too. The Bengals could still draft a DE early with any of these additions (shown above).

Al-Quadin Muhammad

Muhammad isn’t Aidan Hutchinson, but he’s the next best thing. He has unleashed 5 sacks and a few stuffs this season. Muhammad is also somewhat old at 30 years old. He is a late bloomer, to say the least. He had a career high 6 sacks last season. It appears he will smash that mark this season.

Chase Young

Chase Young is injury prone, but he’s a fearless, high motor player on the edge. He also had 2 pass deflections against the Bears last week and a 0.5 sack. He also just happens to be the youngest pass rusher on this list (at 26 years old). The Saints still have Carl Granderson and Cameron Jordan at the DE spot.
