Washington Commanders WRs: Buy or Sell

Commanders WRs outlook

By: Jake Rajala

The Washington Commanders have one of the most prolific wide receiver tandems in the league with the former 49ers WR Deebo Samuel and franchise legend, Terry McLaurin. They are quite complex at the same time. Each wideout has faced backlash for being hurt or “out of shape”. We do know they are highly gifted. It can be sad that they have played frequently without their second year, Pro Bowl QB Jayden Daniels. With that said, I’m going to touch base on the top two WRs and unfold whether it’s a buy or sell for them.

Scary Terry: Buy

I absolutely love the situation for McLaurin. He should be bought at his lowest point. He had an impressive TD with a QB2 in Marcus Mariota last week. Furthermore, he only played 47.2% of snaps. He showed that he is still a freak athlete. He was once seen as a Top-10 WR. I still believe he can ball out for a few more seasons. Terry may be worth a second round pick, which is fair. He should be healthy for Week 10 and obviously: the playoffs. On the flip-side, I have to admit that I don’t love that he’s 30 years old for the sake of the team. It still may be wise to draft a WR on Day 2 of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Samuel: Sell

It may seem blasphemous to buy Terry and sell Samuel. Nonetheless, I don’t love the longevity for swiss army knives. They take a beating beyond a typical WR. Samuel is also coming off his worst two game streak this season. He only had 5.4 points and 4.2 points over the past couple of games. Let’s not forget his mean streak last season, where he recorded 3.1, 4, 5.5, and 4.9 in four consecutive games. I don’t love his reliability, to say the least.

I love the deep resume of each Commanders wideout. They both have played at an All-Pro level before. I still would proceed with caution for Samuel. He can snap out of character and play like an average WR2. As far as McLaurin, he should be the WR1 and go-to weapon when Jayden and he return in the lineup together. I wouldn’t be opposed for McLaurin if he was limited in Week 10 and Week 11, then back to his full course load for playoffs.
