Is it worth adding Jacoby Brissett in dynasty?

Jacoby Brissett’s outlook

By: Jake Rajala

Jacoby Brissett has been playing lights out. He has thrown two touchdowns in each of his prior three games. He has had 21.7 points, 19.76 points, and 24.84 points. It’s safe to say he’s done well for being a backup QB at the start of the season.

With that enunciated, a pivotal and fascinating question clouds over Brissett: is it worth adding Brissett in dynasty?

I honestly believe he’s worth the addition. As long as Marvin Harrison Jr. and Trey McBride are around, Brissett should play like a Top-15 QB. The good news is: Harrison Jr is 23 and McBride is 25! Harrison high pointed the football and really elevated on one play to make the catch. In another situation, Marvin juked the corner and went inside on a slant to catch an easy touchdown. McBride is a match-up nightmare with his size and explosiveness. He also had a TD.

The most important part is that Jacoby is 32 years old. That’s only one year younger than Jared Goff. In today’s world, it wouldn’t be a shock if he played at least five more seasons. Matthew Stafford is 37 years old.

It’s quite impressive that Brissett is dazzling. Not only is Brissett in his first season as a Cardinal, but he’s in command of an offense that Petzing likes to dig deep and spread it around.

If Brissett plays like he’s been playing for the rest of the season, I would expect Brissett to cash in on a short term deal. This would be given that he doesn’t have a rich history before 2025. The Cardinals would be banking on him and trusting him from one season otherwise.

So, if one is unable to get Jacoby from waivers, is he worth a trade?

I would flip a third round pick for him right now. I wouldn’t cough up anything more. As I said, I love his situation. He has two elite toys. We’re seeing Joe Flacco light it up with Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. I believe Jacoby is in a similar situation. They both can read the defenses, and they are consistently accurate.

Brissett is a late bloomer, just as Geno Smith is. I would be utterly shocked if Brissett fell off a cliff and lost his starting gig. I even expect Brissett to even turn it up a notch when he feels Kyler Murray on his trail.
