QBs from the 2025 draft

The 2025 NFL Draft won’t be remembered for their quarterback class, as of right now. The first overall pick from the draft has been anything short of daunting. Ward has thrown five touchdowns to six interceptions. He has a PFF grade of 55, which pegs him 33rd of 38 QBs. To be fair, he’s in a wretched situation. His best WR is none other than Calvin Ridley. Well, he’s injured right now, which leaves 2025 fourth round pick Elic Ayomanor as the top WR. Yes, you read that correctly. The other starting WR at the moment is the other fourth round pick in the 2025 fourth round pick, Chimere Dike. The Titans don’t only have rookie WRs starting, but neither wideout is a freak athlete or true WR1.
We know Ward is having growing pains, but that doesn’t mean every rookie QB should struggle. Thankfully, fellow New York Giants QB Jaxson Dart is playing like a rookie QB that should win OROY right now. Dart has thrown 10 TDs to 3 ints. He also has a PFF grade of 70.1. The most impressive part is that he doesn’t even have Malik Nabers, who is a Top-15 WR. Of course, he will also be without Cam Skattebo moving forward, as well.
Things tend to go really south after Dart.
The most mind boggling situation is with Shedeur Sanders being picked behind Dillon Gabriel on the Browns depth chart. However, we noticed why. He tried to elude too many defenders in the backfield and it ultimately led in him taking too many sacks in his preseason. Sanders doesn’t have overly impressive arm strength or unmatched accuracy. Shedeur was once mocked to be the second QB taken, rather than be the sixth QB taken. Perhaps we should ignore Mel Kiper for his QB analysis on CFB QBs.
Dillon has thrown for 5 TDs to 2 ints thus far. It’s hard to honestly blame him with not having Jerry Jeudy. He’s in a similar dire situation as Cam Ward. Isaiah Bond is the next man up, and he’s not a prolific weapon (as he has 123 yards and one TD in 2025).
Sanders may not be a Top-20 QB, but I believe the Saints are regretting taking Tyler Shough over Shedeur. Shough was the number two QB behind Spencer Rattler to start the season. We learned why Shough couldn’t start over a QB who has one career win. Shough has 304 passing yards, 1 passing TD, and 2 ints in his first two contests. The Saints had a franchise low Time of Possession last week.
The Saints may struggle mightily and land with the first overall pick. However, I believe it was worth taking Kevlin Banks Jr. and building around the QB spot, rather than throwing a rookie QB in the fire with a putrid blindside tackle. They also have the toys for a quality QB to utilize, such as Chris Olave, Alvin Kamara, and Taysom Hill.
