Who has the best pass rush?
By: Jake Rajala
The Denver Broncos leaned on Von Miller, Malik Jackson, and Derek Wolfe to win their latest Super Bowl. Of course, Miller would go on to win MVP, as he unleashed 2.5 sacks (including a strip sack). Let’s not forget Miller time showed out. Peyton Manning was honestly washed up at that point, but he did enough to win the game.
Yet again, once more, the Broncos pass rush is deemed to rule the galaxy! The Broncos lead the league in sacks (with 46 sacks). The next teams aren’t close, as it’s the Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks with 32 sacks. I’d like to see T.J. Watt improve his game and help the Steelers catch up to the Broncos.
So, who is responsible for the Broncos pass rush firing on all cylinders?
The speed rusher, Nik Bonitto, has 9.5 sacks, which is third in the league. Jonathan Cooper isn’t exactly a dud either. He has 7.5 sacks, as well. Zach Allen is a superb run stopper, but he has capitalized from the attention that his teammates garner. Allen has 6 sacks on the season!
The former head coach, Vance Joseph, will be facing his biggest test thus far in the Kansas City Chiefs. The key to beating Patrick Mahomes is getting after the QB without blitzing. We all know the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Philadelphia Eagles dominated Mahomes with this philosophy. Andy Reid isn’t exactly a slouch. He will know that he needs Travis Kelce and Xavier Worthy to shine in the quick passing attack.
The Broncos should be licking their chops in their division. The Los Angeles Chargers rank 28th in sacks allowed and the Raiders rank 25th in sacks allowed. However, the Chiefs rank 9th in sacks allowed. They will be the biggest challenge, as noted.
The Broncos defense has been modest on the fantasy side of things. They are coming off a 15 point game against the Raiders. They have five games of double digit points.
