Best landing spots for Jacoby Brissett
By: Jake Rajala
Jacoby Brissett has been one of the most grand surprises in the league this season. He is coming off a game where he threw for an NFL record, 47 completions. He signed a two year contract worth $12.5 million dollars last March. I still can’t imagine that he will be a backup in 2026. With that said, I’m going to unfold the best landing spots for Brissett.
Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns don’t have a true franchise quarterback right now. Dillon Gabriel hasn’t played anywhere near an OROY type QB. As for Shedeur Sanders, he looks out of sync, and he takes too many sacks. It’s safe to say Deshaun Watson, who has been thrown under the bus by management, won’t be in Cleveland beyond this season. The Browns still need more ammunition to join Jerry Jeudy and David Njoku.
New Orleans Saints
I’d love to see Brissett compete for the Saints starting QB spot with the rookie Tyler Shough and second year Spencer Rattler. Then the Saints can continue to build around a modest QB in Brissett. They could draft a pass rusher or middle linebacker early in the first round, as Cam Jordan and Demario Davis turn 37 this upcoming offseason. Brissett still has Chris Olave, Alvin Kamara, and Taysom Hill to help him out on offense.
Houston Texans
The third year QB CJ Stroud has been downward spiraling since a modest rookie season. He is 3-5 right now, after going 10-7 last season. He also only has 11 touchdowns, after throwing 20 TDs a season ago. Similar to the Saints, I’d love to see a QB battle and then a high draft pick spent on an offensive lineman or wide receiver. The Texans have an elite pass rush with Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson, at least. Stroud currently has a concussion.
Las Vegas Raiders
It’s safe to say the 35 year old QB Geno Smith experiment hasn’t gone as planned. He’s thrown 11 TDs to 12 ints. To make matters worse, he’s 2-7 on the season. He went 10-7 last season. The question is: Are the Raiders helping him enough? They have Brock Bowers, Tyler Lockett, and Tre Tucker, but I don’t believe that’s enough. I’d love to see a Pro Bowl WR to couple with Bowers.
Arizona Cardinals
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”
Brissett is playing lights out with the Arizona Cardinals. If he has superb chemistry with the Cardinals, perhaps he should stay there, and then they could trade Kyler Murray. Brissett has played like a Pro Bowler with the Cardinals. He knows how to utilize Marvin Harrison Jr. and Trey McBride. Murray doesn’t quite have the field awareness as Brissett.
Honorable Mention:
Minnesota Vikings
The second year QB J.J. McCarthy has been inconsistent, to say the least. He could really benefit from a QB battle. Brissett wouldn’t cost as much as Sam Darnold, who the Vikings let hit the open market. Brissett can unlock Justin Jefferson, TJ Hockenson, and Aaron Jones, who are Pro Bowl players.
