Best QB options for the Raiders
By: Jake Rajala
The Las Vegas Raiders are far from daunting at their quarterback spot. After Chip Kelly got axed, all eyes point to Geno Smith being the next profile to leave Sin City. With that said, I’m going to lay out the best replacement options for Smith.
Kyler Murray
It wouldn’t be a complete shock if the Arizona Cardinals stuck with the field general Jacoby Brissett over Kyler Murray. After all, we’re talking about a QB that broke the NFL completion record and hasn’t scored below 19 points in fantasy. Murray is much younger than Geno, as Murray is 28 years old.
Russell Wilson
Let’s skip to the obvious. Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson have had a rich time together. They happen to have won a Super Bowl together. Wilson will be a free agent in 2026. I don’t believe Wilson will retire this offseason. He could compete against a Raiders rookie, too. Wilson could have two revenge games against the Broncos, as well.
Joe Flacco
Joe Flacco plans on playing another NFL season, despite being 40 years old. Flacco is an upgrade over Geno in my opinion. He’s also much cheaper than Geno. I wouldn’t be shocked if the Raiders draft a QB and then bring in a veteran to compete, too. Hence, this is where Joe steps in. After all, Brady may relate to Flacco, as they’re similar in age.
Spencer Rattler
I can’t imagine that the Saints keep Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough beyond 2025. They will most likely draft a QB. That should leave Tyler or Spencer on the team. I would say Tyler has better accuracy and mobility in the pocket than Spencer. Rattler still proved to be able to stretch the field. He just wasn’t able to stand out in the red zone or when the play breaks down.
Kenny Pickett
Kenny Pickett deserves a shot to be a QB1 in this league. He is the current backup to Geno. He brings more potential than Smith, as he happens to be 27 years old and 15-10 in his three seasons. The Raiders are replacing Chip Kelly, so they may want to clean the QB room, too. Hopefully, the Raiders are patient with Pickett.
