5 skill players that could win OPOY

Who will win OPOY?

By: Jake Rajala

The Offensive Player of the Year award is more likely to go to a skill player, rather than the MVP award, which will usually go to a quarterback. With that said, I’m going to lay out five skill players that could win OPOY.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba

Jaxon Smith-Njigba is double covered, yet he manages to play like the best WR in the league. He has a QB in Sam Darnold, who is sixth in passing yards and fifth in passing touchdowns. The Hawks OC Klint Kubiak is also one of the best play callers in the league, too. Jaxon also happens to have a PFF grade of 94, which is best among WRs.

Jonathan Taylor

Jonathan Taylor is having 2025 season that could be better than Saquon Barkley’s 2024 season. All he has done is rush for 1,197 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns, which leads the league in each category. JT has suffered the injury bug in years past, but he is fully healthy this season. He also has a better QB in year’s past with Daniel Jones. Defenses can’t entirely load the box to stop JT. JT has a PFF grade of 84.3.

George Pickens

George Pickens has been one of the best stories in 2025. He went from a modest WR2 with the Pittsburgh Steelers to an elite WR1 with the Dallas Cowboys this year. Pickens is playing with one of the hottest quarterbacks on the season, Dak Prescott. Prescott leads the league in completions with 276. Pickens also has a PFF grade of 90, which is fourth among WRs.

Christian McCaffrey

How the bloody hell can a running back lead the league in catches? What if I told you it wasn’t even a RB, rather a RB that’s 29 years old. The San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey has 81 catches. Furthermore, he leads the NFL in carries, with 217 carries. I expect him to be more effective in the run game with a healthy Brock Purdy opening up the offense.

Davante Adams

Tae has played like a future Hall of Famer this season. He leads the league in touchdown receptions with 12 TDs. The next best TD catches is Amon Ra St. Brown with 9 TD. Tae also has a modest 631 yards. If he gets 20 receiving touchdowns, it would be hard to deny his praise. Don’t let anybody tell Tae he is turning 33 in December.
