Buy, sell, or hold: Garrett Wilson

Garrett Wilson outlook

By: Jake Rajala

The New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson is one of the most gifted, young wide receivers in the NFL. The problem is: he doesn’t have a bloody quarterback to dazzle with. He can’t expect to go out and play like a Top-5 WR with a dud at QB. Even Ja’Marr Chase has been on a roller coaster without Joe Burrow.

With that said, his dynasty situation is complex. Should Wilson be bought, sold, or a hold?

Personally, I would hold Wilson. I really expect him to get an upgrade at QB over Fields or Tyrod Taylor this offseason. They could honestly get their version of Jaxson Dart in the 2026 NFL Draft and allow Wilson to thrive with a young, talented QB for a long time.

Wilson has had an admirable career. He has had three straight 1k+ yard seasons! He is on pace for 960 yards this season. I can allow that to happen, as he’s been injured for many games and playing with one of the worst QB situations in the league. Even the bearded, sage Aaron Rodgers was an upgrade to Fields or Taylor.

In his first five seasons, he averaged 18.98 points. Yes, you read that correctly. Fellow Ohio State stud and potential Pro Bowler, Chris Olave, has only averaged 15 PPG this season!

So, what should the asking price be for Wilson?

I wouldn’t sell him for a first round pick. Of course, there’s ways to be creative. It would just be very hard to cough up Wilson, especially with him unleashing havoc, despite a wretched QB. I sent a first round pick, DK Metcalf, and the Philadelphia Eagles defense to Ja’Marr Chase. This may have been when Joe Burrow was injured, but it would take a fool to ignore Chase’s long-term outlook. I believe it would take a first round pick and something extra to acquire the Jets WR that is a flat out cornerback’s nightmare.
