Dennis Allen’s outlook in the NFL

Dennis Allen has been hired twice in the league as a head coach. To simply state, he wasn’t cut out to be an HC. He went 4-12, 4-12, 0-4, 7-10, 9-8, and 2-7 in his HC years. The Raiders tried being patient with him, but he was abysmal. Furthermore, the Saints thought he was their guy after promoting him from DC to HC. Well, he was still quite bad and the opposite of Sean Payton, also known as the guy he replaced. Mickey Loomis always had his back and there were rumors that he wanted Allen to still stay on board at the very end. Clearly, his voice wasn’t loud enough.
With that stated, Allen has still been a very good defensive coordinator. After proving that in New Orleans, he has had a mountain of success at DC in Chi-town, even if it has been for a short time.
The Bears rank first in NFL takeaways with 17! Allen learned from the best, “Gregg Williams”. In the Saints Super Bowl winning season, the Saints led the league in takeaways. Gregg Williams was their DC and Allen was their secondary coach. I still would like to see more sacks from their uni, as they rank 22nd in sacks with 23.
Of course, Allen’s success hasn’t gone unnoticed. The Bears are 9-3, winning the NFC South, and they have the second best record in the NFC (behind the LA Rams). Most recently, they took down the reigning Super Bowl Champions (Philadelphia Eagles).
Allen is a Top-5 DC in my book. Vic Fangio, Vance Joseph, Steve Spagnuolo, and Brian Flores are ahead of him from my reflection.
I don’t know if he will get another shot as an HC. After all, he had two tries. I’d still love to see him win another Super Bowl as an assistant, preferably from the DC spot.
