Is Waller worth adding?

The tight end, Darren Waller, was a Raiders legend. He was one of the best tight ends in the league with his old squad. We all know he came out of retirement to play with the Miami Dolphins this season. He recorded four touchdowns in three games. He looked like his old self. Well, he went to IR. He was taken off IR last week. He recorded 6.7 points, so he left a lot on the bone.
Waller won’t be around forever. He is 33 years old. I highly doubt he will play as long as Mercedes Lewis, who is 41 years old. Yes, you read that correctly.
I added Waller before he burst onto the scene this season. Every other fantasy die hard certainly feels quite thankful to have had him.
So, the question is: Is Waller worth an addition? I wouldn’t add him. With playoffs approaching, it would be quite risky. Furthermore, his QB, Tua Tagovailoa, is a loose cannon. I don’t believe Waller will score a touchdown every game, as he failed to do that last weekend. I believe Achane and Jaylen Waddle will continue to be heavily leaned on by Mike McDaniel. Over the past few weeks, Achane had 22, 21, and 22 carries.
A bigger question arises: Is Waller worth being added for the long term? Honestly, I do believe so. If Mike McDaniel stays in MIA, I’m holding onto Waller. He didn’t have an offseason to grow with McDaniel in 2025. He should develop more chemistry with the Phins in 2026. Tyreek Hill could also be moved, so Waller could have a bigger role in that case.
Waller is electric and plays like a WR. However, I can’t imagine he goes into the Raiders HOF. He only played in one Pro Bowl and two seasons over 1k yards. He has only played in two full seasons, too. This makes it quite challenging to sustain anything if you can’t be healthy between the white lines.
