Cowboys DL outlook
By: Jake Rajala
It wasn’t popular when the Dallas Cowboys shipped away the All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons. Nonetheless, let’s not hide the fact that the Boys still have a pretty darn good DL.
The Boys have Kenny Clark, who was a part of the Parsons trade. Clark is a potent run stuffer in the middle of the Boys DL. Clark made three Pro Bowls for the Packers. He’s playing like a Pro Bowler right now, too. He has five TFLs, three sacks, and seven QB hits. All three of those stats are more than his entire 2024 season. Clark also does a phenomenal job of taking care of his body, as he hasn’t missed a game in his prior five seasons.
Clark’s right hand man is none other than Quinnen Williams. Jerry Jones is absolutely in love with Quinnen. The former Jets DT has 1.5 sacks, several QB hits, and nine tackles in three games with the Boys. PFF has given him a grade of 84.3, which is fourth among DL. He is 27 years old, so he is just entering his prime.
The edge rushers on the Boys DL needed to step up without Parsons. Dante Fowler Jr. had to look himself in the mirror and find a way to unleash havoc. He only has three sacks on the season. Donovan Ezeiruaku only has a couple of sacks, but he is seen as the future of DE. Of course, he was taken in the second round of the 2025 draft. Osa Odighizuwa is a modest rotational figure at DT. He has a few sacks, too. The leader in sacks is none other than James Houston, with 4.5 sacks.
I would like to see the Boys get more sacks. They rank 16th in sacks. If they want to beat the likes of the LA Rams and Chicago Bears in the playoffs, they need to be able to hunt QBs at a very high level.
