Jaguars-Colts reflection
By: Jake Rajala
The Jacksonville Jaguars are legit. They bullied an AFC powerhouse in the Indianapolis Colts. The Jags won 36-19. With that said, I’m going to lay out five things we learned from the contest.
Danny Dimes suffers another injury
Daniel Jones suffered an Achilles injury, and it’s already widely reported that it “doesn’t look good”. The Colts QB already had a leg injury. Riley Leonard stands as the QB2 right now. He was the 2025 sixth round pick. He was somewhat efficient in the game (18 for 29, a rushing touchdowns, and 145 yards), but it’s unclear if he’s ready for a playoff run.
Who in the hell is Alec Pierce?
Alec Pierce continues to dazzle. Yes, I’m bias, as he’s on my fantasy team. He had five grabs for 80 yards. He is their best pass catching weapon in my opinion. He has had seven games of at least 10 points. He is their biggest surprise this season.
Brian Thomas Jr.
Brian Thomas Jr. has been somewhat inconsistent this season, but he proved to be a stud when it mattered most. He had one of the best catches on the season. He reeled in 87 yards on three catches. With Travis Hunter MIA, it’s vital that Thomas Jr. can hold down the fort.
T-Lawrence silences the haters
It’s worth reflecting on the former first overall pick, Trevor Lawrence. T-Lawrence had 2 passing touchdowns, 0 picks, and a 105.4 passer rating. He also had 16 rushing yards on four carries. Just as Mike McDaniel has faced haters for not beating many winning teams, Lawrence has faced criticism for not taking down playoff caliber teams. Well, he beat a quality team at the right time.
Pass rush
It’s unclear if each team vowed to not sack the opposing QB, as there was one combined sack on the game. This came from Josh Hines-Allen. I’d like to see Travon Walker get a sack on the big stage. He only has 2.5 sacks on the season.
The Jags are in the driver’s seat to win the AFC South. The two teams will face off again before the season’s end, however. Hopefully, it’s more competitive than today, where the Jaguars dominated.
