Reflecting on the Saints-Lions game
By: Jake Rajala
The three-win New York Jets team travelled to the Big Easy to combat the four-win New Orleans Saints. The Saints came out with a victory, which means they are on a three game winning streak and Tyler Shough is 4-3 on the season. With that said, I’m going to lay out five things we learned from the showdown.
Field Goal paradise
The Saints scored five field goals, while the Jets had a pair of field goals. It was 9-6 heading into the second half. It was a beautiful day for fantasy owners of Charlie Smyth and Nick Folk. The Saints are thankful for not having Blake Grupe, who was the opposite of reliable.
Cameron Jordan
Cameron Jordan turned back the clock today. In his potential last home game in his career, he recorded two sacks! He has 8.5 sacks on the season. At least the Saints have Chase Young and Carl Granderson if Jordan hangs up his cleats after this season.
The Saints finished with eight sacks on the day.
Chris Olave
With DeVaughn Vele out for the season, they needed Chris Olave to step up. Well, he certainly did. He recorded over 100 yards and two touchdowns. His crisp route running and speed make him a match-up nightmare. He has made a happy camper, as I have him in my dynasty league.
Breece Hall
I would have liked to see Breece Hall get the ball more in space. He has the speed to go around the corner. He just got blown up by the likes of Demario Davis behind the line of scrimmage. They should have given him the ball with more screens and reverses.
Taysom Hill
Taysom Hill had a fumble on the Saints first drive. He made every Saints fan nervous about getting carries with Alvin Kamara, Kendre Miller, and Devin Neal injured. Well, he finished with one of his best games of his career. He had a receiving touchdown called back, but he had the fake punt run to pick up a first down. He also had a passing touchdown to Chris Olave to put a dagger against the Jets.
