Reflecting on the Chargers-Texans contest

The mighty Houston Texans travelled to California (love) to take on the Chargers. The Texans came out with a 20-16 victory. Well, I’m going to lay out five things we learned from the showdown.
Texans pass rush
The Texans finished with five sacks on the day! Derek Barnett has a pair of sacks and it came in back to back plays. Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson obviously had a sack, too. The Texans are 10th in sacks in the NFL right now.
Cameron Dicker
It was an abysmal day for Cameron Dicker. We all heard him being called the best kicker of all time. Well, the nerves clearly caught up to him. He missed a field goal under 40 yards and an extra point! Yes, you read that correctly. Perhaps the Chargers should bring in Justin Tucker for competition.
CJ Stroud
We all witnessed the two sides of former Ohio State Buckeye CJ Stroud. He started off playing like a Pro Bowler and then finished like Brock Osweiler. He threw two touchdowns with zero incompletions. He then unleashed a pair of interceptions in the second half. Derwin James and Elijah Molden were the receivers of those picks.
Chargers pass rush
The Chargers finished with a whopping zero sacks. They were often picked apart by Stroud with little say in it. Khalil Mack had a nice FF and tackle for loss, but he needed to get home more. I would have liked to see Derwin James on more blitzes, as well. If they want to go far in the playoffs, they need to be able to harass the opposing QB more often.
Keenan Allen
The chemistry between Justin Herbert and Keenan Allen was horrid. Herbert overthrew him on some occasions. Allen finished with just one catch for 17 yards! Ouch. I would have liked to see them connect in the end zone.
The Texans and Chargers are both playoff bound. The Texans have a defense that can really make some noise. Meanwhile, the Chargers HC-QB tandem is lethal. Hence, it wouldn’t be a complete surprise if they meet again.
