3 reasons the Seahawks won’t repeat as Super Bowl Champions

Seahawks won’t repeat as Super Bowl winners

By: Jake Rajala

The Seattle Seahawks should rightfully soak it in. They won the Super Bowl! With that said, I may dampen the mood a bit. I’m going to lay out a few reasons the Hawks won’t repeat as Super Bowl winners.

Klint Kubiak

When Kellen Moore left the Philadelphia Eagles as an offensive coordinator to be the New Orleans Saints head coach, it was difficult for Philly to have a prolific offense again. Well, Klint Kubiak is leaving the Seahawks to be the HC for the Las Vegas Raiders. Kubiak is a genius. He really helps Jaxon Smith-Njigba get the ball in space and Sam Darnold not to turn the ball over. It’s risky for Kubiak in Sin City. He will most likely have a “rookie” QB with Fernando Mendoza. They also don’t have any top notch wideouts. Furthermore, they play in a division with two playoff teams. The third team, which didn’t make the playoffs, has Patrick Mahomes.

San Francisco 49ers

The Seahawks beat the 49ers twice this season. It won’t be easy for them to do it again. They will have Nick Bosa and Fred Warner returning. Each defender is elite at their position. Brock Purdy was also injured and only played in nine games. In those nine games, he went 7-2.

Weapons

I don’t love the outlook for the Seahawks weapons. K9 will be a free agent and he may look to cash in, rather than return to the team that drafted him. Rashid Shaheed is also a free agent. He has expressed an interest in returning to the Saints. Besides them, the future is murky for Cooper Kupp. Mike MacDonald said he should be a Hall of Famer after winning his second Super Bowl. He turns 33 this offseason. I wouldn’t be shocked if he hangs up his cleats.

Honorable Mention:

Secondary

The Hawks secondary bullied the Patriots WRs all night. Stefon Diggs failed to get in synch with Drake Maye. They don’t have the “Legion of Boom”, but they do have a talented secondary. Well, they have a few defensive backs entering free agency. Tariq Woolen, Coby Bryant, and Josh Jobe will be UFAs. A.J. Finley will be a restricted free agent.

It’s never easy for a team to repeat as Super Bowl Champions. In the 21st century, only the Chiefs and Patriots have completed that feat.
