Best trade candidates for each NFC South team
By: Jake Rajala
The 2025-2026 NFL season is officially over. We witnessed the Seattle Seahawks win the Super Bowl and be crowned as the best team in the league. With that said, there will be key moves to be made this offseason. Each team will certainly look at trading away players and trading for players. Well, I’m going to talk about the best trade candidate for each “NFC South” team.
New Orleans Saints:
Alvin Kamara
There are a couple of key reasons why the Saints could trade away five time Pro Bowler Alvin Kamara. For one, the team is moving in a direction where they are moving on from many veterans. Taysom Hill, Cameron Jordan, and Demario Davis are all free agents this offseason. I expect them to move on from Hill (who is 35 years old) on offense at the very least. My second reason for the Saints to move on from Kamara is that he’s blatantly not impressive anymore. PFF ranked him as the 55nd best RB (out of 55) RBs. If you thought Saquon Barkley was washed up, turn on the Kamara tape. He needs a new change of scenery.
Carolina Panthers:
Chuba Hubbard
Make no mistake, Chuba Hubbard is a load, and he’s hard to bring down. He had a marvelous 2024 season, where he recorded 1,195 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns. Well, he took a bit of a downward spiral last season, as he only notched 511 rushing yards and one rushing TD. Rico Dowdle stepped up and made Hubbard expendable. Dowdle had 1,076 rushing yards and averaged 4.6 YPC. Hence, I believe it makes a ton of sense to trade away Hubbard.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Vita Vea
The Bucs have gone younger with their direction on defense in recent memory. Suh, Shaq, and Devin White are gone. I also believe Lavonte Davis, who is a 2026 free agent, will choose to find a more legit Super Bowl contender. Vita Vea is 31 years old and he’s not getting any younger. It would make sense for the Bucs to get an early draft pick for him, before he’s completely washed up.
Atlanta Falcons
Jake Matthews
Jake Matthews is 33 years old, so the Falcons may want to go younger at the key position. Plus, Matthews had a 69.7 PFF grade last season. Ouch. Matthews can be a modest LT. The Falcons are also young at RB (Bjian Robinson) and WR (Drake London). It would make sense to go young at LT. The Falcons could also use more money to bring back Kyle Pitts.
