Best landing spots for Lavonte David

Best destinations for Lavonte David

By: Jake Rajala

Lavonte David has had a marvelous career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has been named second team All-Pro twice, first team All-Pro once, and of course: a Super Bowl winner. With that said, he is a free agent, and I expect him to carefully pick a new team. Hence, I’m going to pick five teams that make logical fits for him.

Los Angeles Rams

After Bobby Wagner left, there is a void at ILB for the LA Rams. They still have Nate Landman, but he needs a partner in crime. The Rams managed to be 10th in rushing YPG allowed last season. Of course, there is always room to improve. Wagner and Aaron Donald were together. I’m sure the Rams wouldn’t be too spoiled to have David and Landman together. Plus, the Rams need to load up if they want to beat Kenneth Walker and the Seattle Seahawks.

Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings need to make a few serious acquisitions if they want to keep pace with the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers. Let’s not forget that the Detroit Lions are the other NFC North team and they were arguably the best team to not make the playoffs. Eric Wilson, Blake Cashman, and Andrew Van Ginkel are saying, “welcome brother”. Brian Flores is also a heck of a defensive coordinator, as the Vikings were 7th in PPG allowed last season.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a few key veterans already. They have T.J. Watt, Cameron Heyward, and Jalen Ramsey. Obviously, they have a veteran offensive player by the name of Aaron Rodgers. David can join the nursing home, and they can all go out swinging together. If the Steelers want to slow down the likes of Josh Allen, Drake Maye, and even Patrick Mahomes, they need to make more changes.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys need to continue to make changes on defense. They already brought in Quinnen Williams to join Kenny Clark (from the Micah Parsons trade). I’d love to see them bring in more prominent run stoppers. The Boys were 23rd in rushing YPG allowed last season. The Boys play in a division where Saquon Barkley and Cam Skattebo reign.

New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints showed a lot of progress from Tyler Shough. He went 5-4 with Who Dat Nation. I believe they are a couple of pieces away from winning the division. David and Demario Davis would be the best MLB tandem in the league, assuming Davis stays. They also have Chase Young and Bryan Bresee up front. Cameron Jordan may also be there, but he is a free agent, too.

Honorable Mention:

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs have Chris Jones (who may make some mental errors) on defense. David could take them up a level. They weren’t talented enough to be the third AFC West team to make the playoffs (of course, the Broncos and Chargers made the playoffs).
