Who could replace Tremaine Edmunds?
By: Jake Rajala
It’s been widely reported that the Chicago Bears middle linebacker Tremaine Edmunds is seeking a trade. With that said, the pivotal question is: who will replace the 27 year old, Tremaine Edmunds?
Well, here are some options.
Demario Davis
Don’t tell Demario Davis that he turns 37 years old this offseason. He had 143 combined tackles, which was a career high! DD is obviously looking to join a Super Bowl contender right now. Furthermore, the Bears DC is none other than Dennis Allen. Allen coached Davis in New Orleans.
Alex Anzalone
Alex Anzalone is another LB that played under Dennis Allen. Anzalone is quite versatile and aggressive. He shined in pass coverage last season, as he had nine pass deflections. He also had 2.5 sacks, 95 combined tackles, and four tackles for loss. He is lengthy (similar to Tremaine), as he’s 6’3, 240.
Patrick Queen
Patrick Queen is a beast against the run. He had 120 combined tackles, eight TFLs, and had four pass deflections. He was named second team All-Pro in 2023. He also made the Pro Bowl in 2023 and 2024. Queen is playing in a contract year, so he’s going to play with his hair on fire, whether he plays for the Steelers or a different team.
Ernest Jones
Ernest Jones has a lot of swagger after winning the Super Bowl last season. He also has flashed excellence in the passing game. He had five interceptions last season! He also had seven pass deflections! Jones also recorded 126 combined tackles, so he’s well-rounded. He had a PFF grade of 58.8, so he clearly has room to improve.
Lavonte David
Lavonte David has been around the block. He’s won a Super Bowl and he’s been named second team All-Pro twice and first team AP once. David has also been a team captain. David is also on his last legs, as he’s 36. It makes sense for him to pursure a Super Bowl contender right now.
Logan Wilson
Loga Wilson isn’t all-star. After all, he was cut from the Cowboys. He still has a modest resume. He has four seasons of at least 100 tackles. In 2023, he had nine pass deflections. He had a poor PFF grade of 52.6. I don’t believe it’s worth putting a nail in his coffin. He is still 29 and could absolutely bounce back.
