5 veteran QB options for the Browns

Best veteran QB options for the Browns

By: Jake Rajala

The Cleveland Browns have some work to do on their quarterback spot. Shedeur Sanders flashed greatness, but he was up and down last season. He was quite popular, despite throwing more interceptions than touchdowns. With that said, I expect them to bring in some competition at their quarterback spot. It makes sense to bring in a veteran who can show Shedeur the ropes. Hence, I’m going to lay out five “veteran” QB options for the Browns.

Malik Willis

Malik Willis and Shedeur have similar QB ability, as they are dual threat QBs. Willis could be a Top-15 QB, as well. He unleashed three passing touchdowns, two rushing touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He did all this despite starting one game. Willis is only 26 years old, which is the same age as the 2025 rookie, Tyler Shough.

Mitchell Trubisky

I believe the former Bears QB, Mitchell Trubisky, who went 11-3 in a season is somewhere in him. Trubisky went to learn behind Josh Allen, who won the MVP in 2024. I’d love to see Mitchell prove he developed nicely and try to start somewhere else. He just needs to be consistent and try to not do everything on his own.

Marcus Mariota

Similar to Willis and Sanders, Marcus Mariota can make plays with his legs. Mariota proved to be efficient and lethal. Sadly, he only went 2-6. Let it be known that Jayden Daniels only went 2-5. The situation for them was far from dazzling. Mariota threw 10 touchdowns to several ints. He also had 297 rushing yards.

Spencer Rattler

The former fifth round pick Spencer Rattler will likely get traded this offseason. Tyler Shough proved to be worthy of the QB1 spot in 2026. I would say Shough was the best rookie QB, then Jaxson Dart was the second best rookie QB, and Cam Ward was the third best rookie QB. I’d peg Shedeur as the fourth best rookie QB. Rattler has impressive arm strength. He reminds me of Jay Cutler.

Zach Wilson

It’s time for Zach Wilson to try and show again that he isn’t a bust. Wilson was trapped in New York for a few seasons. He then was MIA in 2024, and he showed up with the Dolphins roster last season. Let’s not forget that he went 5-4 in his second season. There is still hope in him.

Honorable Mention:

Kirk Cousins

Captain Kirk finished strong last season. Cousins went 5-3 last season. He threw 10 TDs to 5 interceptions. The issue is that he’s 37 years old, and the Falcons want to go in a younger direction at QB. Cousins doesn’t have to play lights out, as his defense is elite.
