NFC North: biggest need for each team

NFC North: biggest need for each squad

By: Jake Rajala

The NFC North isn’t flawless. There are many needs for each team. Well, I’m going to lay out the “biggest need” for each NFC North team.

Green Bay Packers: Left tackle

There are a lot of rumors about left tackle Rasheed Walker linking up with a new team in free agency. This wouldn’t be a tragedy, as PFF dubbed him as the 52nd best tackle last season. I’d like to see the Pack take a shark look at Trent Williams, if he is released by the 49ers. David Bakhtiari can’t save them.

Chicago Bears: Middle linebacker

There is no secret: The Bears middle linebacker, Tremaine Edmunds, is seeking to join a new team. This would leave a massive hold at MLB for the Bears. I’d love to see Demario Davis replace Edmunds. Davis can blitz, drop into coverage, and go sideline to sideline. Davis played under Dennis Allen in New Orleans, too.

Detroit Lions: edge rusher

Aidan Hutchinson can’t carry the Lions pass rush by himself. They have Al-Quadin Muhammed, but he’s a free agent. He is also 31 years old. I’d like to see the Lions reel in a younger, more gifted DE across from Hutch. Maxx Crosby has been linked to the Lions. Trey Hendrickson is another popular choice. The Lions would have to break the bank or give up a lot of compensation for an elite edge rusher.

Minnesota Vikings: quarterback

This one is a no-brainer. The Vikings simply need a new QB. Sure, McCarthy touched the field last season for the first time. That’s still not an excuse for abysmal performances. He also had Kevin O’Connell working with him. Kevin made Kirk Cousins look like a Pro Bowler! McCarthy is 23, however. He’s a year younger than Shedeur Sanders. He still has time to develop, but I don’t believe he’s ready to be a QB1.

The NFC North is one of the most competitive divisions. Every team in the division had a winning record. Yes, you read that correctly. It would be quite impressive if each team managed to improve. Could it happen? Absolutely.
