A key free agent signing for each NFC East team
By: Jake Rajala
The NFC East in 2025 wasn’t the same prolific division that it was in 2024. There is a lot of room to improve for each team. It starts in free agency. So, I’m going to lay out a key free agent signing that should occur for each squad.
Washington Commanders: Jamel Dean
The Commanders need a CB after the release of Marshon Lattimore. Insert Jamel Dean. He had a PFF grade of 80.6, which was third among CBs. The Commanders need a prominent CB with AJ Brown, Ceedee Lamb, and Malik Nabers in their division. All of those wideouts are arguably Top-10 WRs.
Dallas Cowboys: Khalil Mack
The Dallas Cowboys could bring back Jadeveon Clowney. Regardless of his situation, I’d like to see the Boys sign another edge rusher. I believe Khalil Mack could be a dominant edge rusher for another season or two. Mack had 5.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, and 11 QB hits.
Philadelphia Eagles: Taysom Hill
The Eagles could use a WR3 and a TE2. Well, Taysom Hill can cover both of those spots. He can also do the tush push. Hill can run a 4.4 and squat over 600 pounds. Hill and Saquon Barkley can compete for the heaviest squat. Hill is 35, so I expect him to play a couple of more seasons at most.
New York Giants: Calais Campbell
Calais Campbell isn’t human. At 39, he refuses to lay down. If he doesn’t retire this offseason, I expect him to hang up his cleats in 2027. Campbell can shine as a DE in a 3-4 scheme. Campbell is a freak of nature, as he’s 6’8, 315 pounds. He recorded 6.5 sacks, nine tackles for loss, and 43 combined tackles last season.
As you can see, the theme of these projected FA signings was defense. The GMEN, Boys, and Commanders could benefit from a new defender. Philly has a stacked defense. Many of their defenders are from their Super Bowl victory against the Chiefs. I hope the 2026 season will have four quality NFC East teams and the division won’t be known as the “NFC least”.
