Where will Kyler Murray sign next?

Kyler Murray takes a lot of heat for being short. Nonetheless, he is a gifted, dual-threat quarterback. He threw six touchdowns to three interceptions, and had 173 rushing yards in five games last season. Sadly, he did only have a 2-3 record. Let it be known that Jacoby Brissett went 1-11 last season, despite being a modest QB. He was also my fantasy QB, so I have to say he was consistent and a slightly above average game manager. They didn’t have a lot of help for Brissett, especially on defense (as the Cardinals defense ranked 29th in PPG allowed).
With that all said, Murray is a free agent. The question is: Which team will sign him? Well, I’m going to lay out several best destinations for the former Cardinals QB.
New York Jets
This one is a no-brainer. The Jets can’t seem to find their true franchise QB. Justin Fields is not the answer, to say the least. Fields went 2-7 and struggled to be clutch in key situations. Of course, Aaron Rodgers and Sam Darnold struggled in the Big Apple, as well. The Jets don’t have a bad situation. They have Breece Hall at RB and Garrett Wilson at WR. I’d just like to see them bring in another top-notch wideout. Just as the Cardinals have a defense, the Jets ranked 31st in PPG allowed last season. The Jets need to control the clock and help their defense out.
Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings managed to have a winning record with the worst QB in the league in J.J. McCarthy. Yes, the Vikings QB that had a 61.8 PFF grade. He was arguably worse than former Vikings bust Christian Ponder. If the Vikings can add Murray, it can take them over the hump and split games with each team in their division at the very least. According to NBC Sports, Murray is the favorite to land with the Vikings.
Las Vegas Raiders
Even if the Raiders draft Fernando Mendoza, it’s unclear when he will be ready to start. Murray can show him the ropes. Murray may be able to utilize the likes of Brock Bowers, Ashton Jeanty, and I expect a stud free agent signing at WR better than Mendoza. Murray could have fit Chip Kelly’s offense, but it’s clearly too late for that. Klint Kubiak is a genius on offense. If he can make Sam Darnold look like a stud, then Murray should feel comfortable in him putting in the right spots to succeed.
Indianapolis Colts
I’d love to see the Colts bring in Murray over Danny Dimes. Yes, the Colts put on the transition tag on Jones. I’d still like to see them bring in Murray. Jones has only played in one full season in his career. Hence, there’s a realistic chance Murray enters the scene.Murray could make a lot of noise in the read option game with Jonathan Taylor. They also have Michael Pittman (and potentially Alec Pierce). I believe Murray could lead this team to the playoffs. He’s a better option than Philip Rivers.
Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins will most likely move on from Tua Tagovailoa. After all, he threw 15 interceptions before getting benched. He also had a PFF grade of 62.1, which was good enough for 34th of 43 QBs. They also no longer have Tyreek Hill. I’d love to see them bring in a QB that can do a lot of out nothing. They also no longer have Mike McDaniel. Murray is also accustomed to playing in warm weather, as he played in Arizona. Obviously, Miami is quite hot.
Cleveland Browns
I’m not buying Shedeur Sanders has the answer for the Browns QB issues. He threw more interceptions than touchdowns last season. He is one of the most popular, below average QBs in the league. He sells jerseys, but that doesn’t mean he deserves to be in the Pro Bowl. Murray could do some damage with the Browns. Myles Garrett can clean up on defense. Murray can scramble and make magic on offense.
Houston Texans
I believe the former second overall pick, CJ Stroud needs some competition at QB. He has failed to make the Texans a Super Bowl contender, despite them having a Top-3 defense (which is led by Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter). He has vastly struggled in the playoffs, as he unleashed 41 for 79, 462 passing yards, 2 TDs and 7 turnovers, and a 51.8 passer rating.
In the end, Murray is 28 years old, and he has a bright future ahead of him. If he can stay healthy on a team with a few superb weapons and a defense that can hold it’s own, he should be a Pro Bowler with that squad.
