Best pass rushers for the Dallas Cowboys
By: Jake Rajala
The Dallas Cowboys famously traded away the legendary, yet young edge rusher Micah Parsons last season. They brought in figures like Jadeveon Clowney and Dante Fowler Jr. They were actually productive last season, but they weren’t All-Pros. With that said, I’m going to lay out several pass rusher targets for the Dallas Cowboys.
Trey Hendrickson
It may seem lofty, but I believe the Boys are one of the top teams to land Trey Hendrickson. Pat McAfee seems to believe Dallas is a good fit for him. Furthermore, “Fantasy Footballers Podcast” noted that the Boys are turning their attention toward Hendrickson. “Sporting News” also states that Hendrickson is a fit for Hendrickson. Each party may not be first love for the other. Hendrickson reportedly wants to play for the Bucs. Meanwhile, Maxx Crosby is strongly rumored to be acquired by Dallas.
Travon Walker
Travon Walker was a modest edge rusher, but he has been on the decline as of late. He has merely recorded 3.5 sacks last season, after 10.5 in 2024 and 10 in 2023. It seems foolish that the Jags drafted him over Aidan Hutchinson. Walker needs a change in scenenry, if he wants to be a Pro Bowler. He is still 25 years old, so he has plenty of time to be more productive. I’d also like to see him show up in the playoffs, as well.
Kwity Paye
Kwity Paye isn’t has prolific at rushing the passer as the other guys on this list. Nonetheless, he a is a powerful freak that has a high motor. He had 8.5 sacks in 2023 and 8 sacks in 2024. He only had four sacks last season, but he still had nine QB hits, and six TFLs. Paye is 27, so he has a lot of meat left on the bone.
Cameron Jordan
For the first time in a century, the future Hall of Famer, Cameron Jordan, will hit the open market. I expect him to have a short term, lucratic offer, after he had 10.5 sacks last season. I foresee him joining a team that has a stable QB situation and a defense that’s moving in the positive direction. Jordan should be impressed about playing alongside Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark on the DL. I still believe the Boys can make the playoffs with their current roster. I trust Dak slightly more than Tyler Shough, too.
Jadeveon Clowney
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
The former first overall pick Clowney sort of turned back the clock last season, as he unleashed 8.5 sacks, 10 QB hits, 12 TFLs, four pass deflections, and 41 combined tackles. The former South Carolina Gamecock hasn’t had double digit sacks in his career, but he is a pressure machine and he can excel at taking down foes in the back field. He’s made three Pro Bowls in his career. At 33 years old, I’d like to see him return to a familiar place, such as the Boys, where he can make another Pro Bowl spot. He had a PFF grade of 79.2, which was 18th among edge rushers.
Leonard Floyd
Leonard Floyd isn’ the sexiest name on this list. However, he can still hunt down opposing QBs. He had 10.5 sacks in 2023, 8.5 sacks in 2024, and then he did take a step back in sacks with 3.5 last season. I still believe he has some gas left in the tank. He won’t be expensive, which is great. He had a PFF grade of 60.1, which was 82nd among edge rushers. Floyd is 33 years old, I expect him to retire soon, as well.
Calais Campbell
Calais isn’t a pure edge rusher. He can come off the edge, but he also rushes from the interior. At 39 years old, he refuses to slow down. I have to say that I expect him to play one more season at most. He had 6.5 sacks, 16 QB hits, and nine TFLs last season. Campbell, Williams, and Kenny Clark could turn out to be one of the best IDLs in the league. He had a 72.2 PFF grade last season, which was 26th in the league. I have to respect that, given his age. If Mike Tyson can fight at this stage in his career, we have to admire Campbell giving his best effort right now.
Honorable Mention
Joey Bosa
Joey Bosa may be a borderline Pro Bowler right now. He only had five sacks last season, but he did have five forced fumbles, which led the league. He also had 16 QB hits. He’s more of a 3rd down pass rush specialist. He is also 30 years old, so he could play a few more seasons. If he doesn’t reunite with his brother (Nick) in San Francisco, I’d love to see Joey go to a team where they could use his help.
