QBs ready to turn it around
By: Jake Rajala
There have been many quarterbacks that have turned around their careers after struggling. We could remember the likes of Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, and Caleb Williams. With that said, I’m going to talk about many QBs ready to turn it around in 2026.
Daniel Jones
This is a no-brainer. Daniel Jones showed a lot of potential in his limited Colts career. He unleashed 19 touchdowns to eight interceptions. He also had a 68% completion percentage. Most importantly, he led his team to an 8-5 record. They looked like legit Super Bowl contenders under the former Giants QB. He just needs to stay healthy, so his team doesn’t lure in Tom Brady or Derek Carr.
Kyler Murray
Kyler Murray is the most talented QB on this list, in my opinion. Murray can evade defenders in space with ease, and make magical throws on the run. He hasn’t had a winning record since 2021, nonetheless. Murray needs a better situation and it’s arrived. He will have the best WR he’s ever had in Justin Jefferson. I’d still like to see him have a more prolific RB. Murray takes too much heat for being short.
Bryce Young
Bryce Young is similar to the NFL bust Johnny Manziel with his size. However, he’s far wiser and more talented. Young went 8-8 last season, threw 23 touchdowns, and had a 63.6 completion percentage. He had a middle of the pack PFF grade of 70.5. This is improvement from the season before, where he notched a record of 4-8, threw 15 touchdowns, and had a 60.9 completion percentage. Young and Tetairoa McMillan have a bright future together.
Michael Penix
It’s not time to throw in the towel on former Falcons first round pick Michael Penix. He is one of the most gifted passers in the league. The issue is: can he stay healthy and also be clutch? He threw nine touchdowns to three ints. He also threw 1,982 passing yards. I’d like to see him make more plays in pivotal moments. Then perhaps he wouldn’t have led his team to an 3-6 record. He squares off in one of the easiest divisions. There’s no excuse for him to struggle.
Mac Jones
The backup 49ers QB Mac Jones was the best QB2 last season. The question is: how will defenses adjust to facing him, if he’s the starter. Jones had a winning record of 5-3 last season. Furthermore, he unleashed 13 touchdowns to six interceptions. I expect him to be flipped to a team like the New York Jets or Cleveland Browns.
Honorable Mention:
Shedeur Sanders
I don’t exactly believe that Shedeur Sanders deserved to be in the Pro Bowl. After all, he threw more interceptions (10) than touchdowns (7). He also had a losing record of 3-4. I’d love to see witness the Browns reel in a couple of weapons for their young QB. Shedeur has that “it” factor. I just want to see him be more consistent.
