Seahawks vs Patriots: 5 players to watch out for in Week 1

Seahawks vs Patriots

By: Jake Rajala

It’s official: the Week 1 opener will be a Super Bowl rematch, between the reigning Super Bowl Champions Seattle Seahawks and the reigning AFC Champions New England Patriots. Hence, I’m going to preview the game by laying out five players to watch out for.

AJ Barner

The Seahawks TE1 is none other than AJ Barner. Barner didn’t only have a modest six touchdowns last season. He also showed up in key moments. He had a 26 yard touchdown against the LA Rams, to put his team up by two points. Furthermore, he scored a TD in the Super Bowl. Barner also had a PFF grade of 74.4, which pegged him as the 11th best TE.

Jadarian Price

Jadarian Price was the Seahawks first round pick in 2026. Believe it or not, he was also the second Notre Dame RB taken. Price reminds me a lot of Zeke Elliot. They have a unique combination of size and speed. Right now, the Hawks listed RB1 is Zach Charbonnet. So, when could Price take over as the bell-cow RB?

Will Campbell

Will Campbell will have his hands full against Demarcus Lawrence and Uchena Nwosu on the edge in the contest. He had a PFF grade of 72.6, which was 32nd among 89 tackles. It wasn’t sexy. Drake Maye was second in MVP votes last season. They will need Campbell to hold his ground for his young QB.

Christian Barmore

Barmore is a freak of nature in the trenches. He won’t get double digit sacks, but he will hurt the opposing run game. The Hawks were fourth in rushing attempts last season. Hence, it will be vital that Barmore shows up for work. He needs to bring back memories of Vince Wilfork.

Kevin Byard

Kevin Byard had seven interceptions last season, which was first in the league. He signed with the Patriots this offseason on a deal worth $9 million for one year. There is no denying his ability. The real question is: Can he be productive at 32 years old?

Honorable Mention:

TreVeyon Henderson

TreVeyon will be the 1B to Rhamondre Stevenson. Stevenson recorded 948 total yards and nine touchdowns last season and then 969 total yards and eight total touchdowns in 2024. The Pats love running it down the throats of the defense. The Pats have always had success from a group of RBs.
