7 replacement options for Josh Jacobs

replacement options for Josh Jacobs

By: Jake Rajala

We all heard the news: Josh Jacobs was arrested for many crimes. This raises the question: Will Jacobs be suspended?

If Jacobs is suspended, it will likely be for at least a few games. Hence, I’m going to lay out potential replacement options for him.

Rhamondre Stevenson

The Patriots have two modest ball-carriers in Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson. I foresee Henderson as the better long-term fit. Henderson was a rookie last season, while Rhamondre is coming off his fifth season. Henderson averaged 5.1 YPC, which was fourth among running backs. Henderson also had more rushing yards (911) than Stevenson (603).

Aaron Jones

It may be time for Aaron Jones to return home. Of course, the drawback to this happening is that the two teams are in the same division. Jones is one of the best RBs in NFL history to only make one Pro Bowl. Last season, Jones notched 747 total yards in 12 games. If he can stay healthy, the Pack should get a couple of more modest seasons out of him. Jordan Mason is the long-term RB in Minnesota, anyways.

Alvin Kamara

Travis Etienne is the future of the Saints backfield. After all, they signed him to a four year contract worth $52 million dollars. After Etienne is a popular figure by the name of Alvin Kamara. He is on his last legs. He was ranked as the dead last RB by PFF. He could be a quality pass catcher for the Packers, even when Jacobs likely returns.

Kareem Hunt

Kareem Hunt was a bowling ball for the Chiefs over the past two seasons. He had eight rushing TDs last season and seven rushing TDs in the season before that. Hunt also had a domestic violence issue many years ago. He could take Jacobs under his wing and help him grow as a person.

Tyler Allgeier

We all know that Tyler is famous for not fumbling in the NFL. Well, he’s also a pretty darn good RB. Tyler played behind Bijan Robinson. In other words, was hard for him to get the ball. He got the backseat to another talented RB in Jeremiyah Love. Tyler is also 26 years old, so he is in his prime.

Nick Chubb

Nick Chubb is the poor man’s version of Jacobs. Nonetheless, he can be a modest bridge RB until Jacobs is back. His days of running around 1,500 yards is over. We still witnessed him averaged 4.1 YPC and run for 506 yards in 15 games. He split the rock in Houston.

Taysom Hill

I know this may seem bizarre. Well, Hill is more of a run threat than a passing threat. The Packers is where Hill started. Hill could excel in wildcat formations even occasional tailback for the Packers. Perhaps he could play some slot WR, too.
