Should the Chiefs and Tyreek Hill join forces?

If Tyreek Hill wasn’t on the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers, they may very well wouldn’t have won it. It was 3rd and 18 and Patrick Mahomes scrolled around and hit Hill for a huge gain.

Hill was flat out electric in his Chiefs tenure. He recorded four 1k+ yard receiving seasons. He made six Pro Bowls, he was named first team All-Pro twice as a WR and once as a return specialist.

With that all said, a pivotal question surrounds Hill and the Chiefs: should they reunite?

Terrence Edwards of Stadium Rant suggests that the Chiefs sign Stefon Diggs. One of his reasons is that the Chiefs expect Mahomes to be ready for Week 1. I believe that this reason could apply to the Chiefs signing any WR. Edwards also noted that Diggs is still productive. Well, Hill averaged 66.3 YPG in four games last season, which was good for 1,127 yards on the season.

The Chiefs need more weaponry, don’t get me wrong. Rashee Rice is behind bars, Xavier Worthy hasn’t eclipsed 650 yards in either of his two seasons. They no longer have JuJu or Hollywood Brown. Hell, even Travis Kelce is on his last legs. He recorded a career low 823 yards in 2024 and then a second worst 851 yards last season.

It wasn’t long ago that Hill was ranked as the best overall player in the league. He still has some of that juice left. It should be noted that Tua was injured and he missed six games in 2024. This certainly affected Hill merely unleashing 959 yards and not 1,700 yards.

Hill is 32 years old, so he only has 2-3 more seasons in my opinion. “Speed” guys or deep threats tend to have longer careers than possession WRs or very physical WRs. I believe that Hill has more in the tank than OBJ. Beckham Jr. is 33 years old.

Mahomes threw 22 touchdowns and 3,587 yards last season. Each of these were his worst single-season mark since his rookie season (where he only played one game).

Given that the Giants just signed OBJ, JuJu, and Braxton Berrios, it may be urgent for the Chiefs to sign Hill. The clock is ticking. If the Chiefs don’t sign Hill, I’m afraid he will sign somewhere else.
