Best FA at each spot headed into 2026

Best FA at each spot right now

By: Jake Rajala

There is still a lot of talent left in free agency, regardless of the position. So, I’m going to lay out the best FA at each spot headed into 2026.

QB: Jimmy G

There have been rumors that Jimmy G could retire. If he does keep lacing up the cleats, I’d love to see him join a talented team that has a chance at winning the Super Bowl. Yet, the same team needs a QB. It can be a tricky situation. Jimmy is 34, so he most likely has a few seasons left in him at most.

RB: Najee Harris

Somehow Najee Harris is unsigned. I’m not saying he’s on the same level as Travis Etienne and Kenneth Walker. However, he can be a 1k yard RB in the right system.

WR: Stefon Diggs

Mr. WR2 has chosen to wait it out. He was once a lock to make the Pro Bowl in Buffalo. Diggs is quite electric. He needs to clean up his off-field drama, if he wants to focus on football.

TE: Darren Waller

Darren Waller was a TD machine last season. He recorded 6 TDs in 9 games. I would love to see him reunite with Mike McDaniel in Los Angeles. The downside of Waller is that he is 33 years old.

T: Taylor Decker

Taylor Decker may be the best overall free agent right now. He can shine in the run and pass game. He didn’t have a sexy 2025 season, but there’s no time to give up on him. Decker is also 32, which isn’t old in tackle years.

G: Kevin Zeitler

Kevin Zeitler is a maniac. He had a PFF grade of 74.5 last season, which was 13th among guards. It’s not forgivable that he was named to one Pro Bowl. He still has a few seasons left at 36 years old.

C: James Daniel

James Daniel isn’t the most potent center in the league. However, he’s versatile and can move around the OL. Furthermore, Daniel is quite explosive. He is 28 years old, so he could play for another decade.

DE: Joey Bosa

I want to see Joey Bosa run it back with a team capable of winning the Super Bowl right now. He had 5 forced fumbles last season, so he isn’t washed up just yet. Perhaps he will join Nick in San Francisco.

DT: Mario Edwards

Mario Edwards has been up and down in his career. In 2024, he notched a few sacks, eight QB hits, and 31 tackles. He won’t fill up a gap like Vince Wilfork, but he can break double teams and open up spots for his linebackers.

LB: Bobby Wagner

This one is a slam dunk. Bobby Wagner is somehow unsigned. He can be a Pro Bowl LB right now. He is 36, so he will likely play 1-2 more seasons, with that said.

CB: Marshon Lattimore

If Marshon Lattimore always played like how he did against Mike Evans, he would be in the Hall of Fame. Lattimore needs to be consistent. Lattimore is 30, so he has a couple of more seasons at most.

S: Harrison Smith

I can’t imagine that Harrison Smith plays more than a year. He is 37 years old. So, I’d love to see him join a Super Bowl contender, such as Seattle, New England, or Denver.

K: Justin Tucker

I acquired Justin Tucker in the FA pool in my dynasty league. He may be part of a wrong scandal and I hope justice is served. I’d like to see Tucker return then.

P: Thomas Morstead

Age is just a number. Thomas Morstead, also known as the man in “Ambush” in the Super Bowl, is still a free agent. Thomas last played for the 49ers last season.
