Saints at Rams: 5 Saints to watch

Saints at Rams: outlook

By: Jake Rajala

The New Orleans Saints are taking on the Los Angeles Rams. Insert California Love.

The Saints will start their backups once again. There were plenty of stars in Week 1. They will be worth keeping an eye on in Week 2. With that said, I’m going to lay out many Saints to watch in Week 2.

Zach Wilson

It doesn’t take captain obvious to point out that Zach Wilson was a stud in Week 1. He was 11 for 16 with a passing touchdown. Wilson stood in the pocket and didn’t panic, like Spencer Rattler did. Wilson is 27 years old, which is only a year older than Tyler Shough. There’s plenty of time for Wilson to grow.

Jaylan Ford

Jaylan Ford flexed his athletic ability by making an interception in Week 1. He made some Saints fans forget about Demario Davis. Of course, we all want to see Ford make plays against the starters. Ford was a fifth round pick in 2024. He is 24 years old right now.

Alvin Kamara

It’s unclear if the Saints legend Alvin Kamara will play in pre-season. I sure hope he does. We all want to see if he still has juice at 31 years old. Travis Etienne is the sure-fire starter. I want to see how Shough utilizes Kamara in his second season. Audric Estime played well in Week 1 and nobody should tell him he can’t be the backup to Etienne.

Oscar Delp

The Saints 2026 third round pick Oscar Delp caught a touchdown in Week 1. I’d like to see more targets to him in the passing game. I know he isn’t Jimmy Graham quite yet. However, he can still get 5-6 targets in a game. He is physical and elusive. I’d like to see him utilized well.

Martin Emerson Jr.

Martin Emerson Jr. could go from a starter to a fourth string. He’s a case that’s hard to crack. He played well against the Jags, as he locked down his foes and had three pass deflections. He is 25 years old, so it’s perfect time to put it all together and unleash havoc.

Honorable Mention:

Hunter Dekkers

I want to see Hunter Dekkers in another tight game situation. Clearly, he is given a chance to shine and make the roster. If he does well, the Saints could trade Spencer Rattler and roll with him, Wilson, and Shough. Dekkers has a lot of potential, as he’s 25 years old.
