Potential replacements for Jaxson Dart
By: Jake Rajala
It’s official: the New York Giants quarterback second year QB Jaxson Dart will undergo season ending knee injury. So, I’m simply going to unfold potential replacements for the Star Wars fan.
Mac Jones
Mac Jones is arguably the best backup QB in the league. He really stepped up well in the absence of Brock Purdy last season. Jones went 5-3, threw 13 touchdowns to six ints, and had a 69.6 completion percentage. The question is: What Jones would we get? Would it be the Jones in 2023 and 2024, where be never put his team in a situation to win, or would it be the 2025 Jones?
Spencer Rattler
This is the perfect time for the Saints to trade away Spencer Rattler and get compensation for him. He still has a lot of potential and it shouldn’t be ruined as a backup forever. Rattler has elite arm talent. He is a poor man’s version of Aaron Rodgers. Yes, I know the phrase “poor man’s” isn’t the best compliment right now.
Shedeur Sanders
The Browns offense belongs to Deshaun Watson. He has taken positive steps over the past few months. He has made some questionable throws (to say the least), but he has also flexed impressive throws on the run. He has thrown 3 TDs to 1 int right now. I expect the Browns to take off the training wheels and let him sling it as the season comes along.
Eli Manning
Eli Manning is loved by the people in the Big Apple. It’s hard to ignore their passion for him, as he won two Super Bowls for Giants nation. It would be hard to blame him if he doesn’t want to come out of retirement, as he would delay his Hall of Fame chances. It’s also interesting to see how his arm strength is holding up.
Derek Carr
I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing Derek Carr coming out of retirement for the right team. The weapons may be appealing to him. I’m talking about Malik Nabers, Cam Skattebo, and Isaiah Likely. More importantly, the GMEN have a defense that can keep them in the game. Their front seven is one of the must superb in the game. They also have one of the best head coaches in the NFL in John Harbaugh.
Drew Brees
We all heard that Drew Brees almost came out of retirement to join the Denver Broncos last season. Perhaps he will seek to come play for different quality team and organization. We witnessed Tom Brady and Brett Favre come out of retirement. Perhaps Brees will follow in their foot-steps.
Justin Fields
Justin Fields is a magician. He can make plays with his arm and legs. He just needs guidance. The Chiefs are one of the best squads in the league. Hence, it tells you something that they want him in their lockeroom. He has a lot of upside and he shouldn’t cose tooo much to acquire.
