Best destinations for Jalen Hurts
By: Jake Rajala
Jalen Hurts has a lot of upside. After all, he is a Super Bowl Champion. Nonetheless, he hasn’t quite lived up to his contract, which is five years for $255 million. Hence, I’m going to lay out potential trade destinations for him.
Cleveland Browns
It may be wise for the Cleveland Browns to not only include draft picks for Hurts, but throw in a QB (such as Shedeur Sanders). The Eagles could work with Sanders, who has more speed on the edge than Hurts. Sanders is also four years younger than Hurts. Sadly, the Browns already traded away Myles Garrett, who was their biggest trade piece.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints already have Jalen Hurts’s former offensive coordinator, Kellen Moore. If Moore doesn’t get fired after this season, perhaps he can reunite with Hurts. Hurts will arguably have the best WR he’s worked with in Chris Olave. Jordyn Tyson is expected to return soon. They don’t have a RB that can jump over people backward, however.
Indianapolis Colts
Daniel Jones looks like a bust already. He has thrown 3 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. Yes, you read that correctly. The worst part is that the Giants sit at 2-3 right now. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Anthony Richardson replaced Jones soon. We’ve witnessed how potent Hurts can be with a prime Saquon. Well, Hurts will have a prime JT in Indy.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers will be looking for Aaron Rodgers’s replacement. I don’t believe he’s on the roster right now. The current QB2 is Mason Rudolph, who isn’t a Top-20 QB. Once upon a time, he threw 13 touchdowns to 9 interceptions as a rookie. Rudolph has never proven to be lethal since then.
Tennessee Titans
Perhaps the Titans could seek to trade their QB (Cam Ward) and an early draft pick straight across for Hurts. Ward has a lot of ability to work with. He may be a better pure passer than Hurts. I just believe he needs a wise football mind to work with, which isn’t on the Titans sideline.
Hurts has had a lot of good things happen to him in his career. This doesn’t mean he’s on an upward trajectory. We’ve seen AJ Brown leave, Barkley isn’t the same he once was, and Hurts isn’t enough to carry them. He has led his team to a 2-3 record. If he doesn’t have a winning record at the end of this season, it may be wise to part ways.
