It’s not too late to apologize

Matthew Stafford has enjoyed a borderline Hall of Fame career. He has put up ungodly states (with numerous teams) and he’s won a Lombardi trophy. However, it’s clear that father time has caught up to him. Hence, I’m going to untwine a few reasons why the LAR should move on from him.
- Production
2012. That is the last time excluding last season that Matthew Stafford threw 20 or fewer touchdowns in a single season. Stafford looked like a young, lost puppy last season. He only threw 20 TDs to 8 interceptions last season. Stafford also failed to throw more than 4k passing yards. PFF gave him a mediocre grade of 74.7.
- Available QBs
Sean McVay has to be licking his chops at the QBs that are available this off-season. He could ink a gifted, somewhat young QB in Sam Darnold. All Darnold did was throw 35 touchdowns and 4,319 passing yards. I suspect that Derek Carr will also be available via a trade. Kirk Cousins and Geno Smith may be more alluring than Stafford even. Obviously, the Rams don’t have a high draft pick, so it will be a challenge for them to replace Stafford in the draft.
- Cap Space
The Rams aren’t exactly cap-strapped, such as how the Saints and Browns are. They rank 16th in cap space, which is enough cash to heavily pursue the right QB/contract. Honestly, they may not be very keen on a QB this off-season, which isn’t an issue. It’s not wise to be in debt with the wrong QB, such as how the Browns are! There may still be a cheap option that can blow away opponents, just as how Jared Goff outperformed expectations with the Detroit Lions.
The Rams have been rumored to ship away former Offensive Player of The Year Cooper Kupp, so it makes more sense to rebuild the QB spot right now. They have Puka Nicua and Kyren Williams. They’re just missing a key, young piece at the QB position.
