Myles Garrett trade
By: Jake Rajala
Myles Garrett has been an wrecking ball over the past few years. He notched 16 sacks in 2021 and 2022. All he did in 2023 was win Defensive Player of The Year. Despite his talent, he wasn’t able to save his team. However, I don’t believe that Lawrence Taylor or Reggie White could have carried the Browns. With that said, Garrett is clearly tired of losing, and he wants his production to help a team that’s competing for the Super Bowl. Well, I’m going to untwine several teams that could use his services.
Dallas Cowboys
Jerry isn’t scared to pull the trigger on big-name acquisitions. Mike Zimmer’s defense was a bottom shelf defense last season, to say the least. The Boys clearly need more juice in an NFC East division that showcased two teams in the NFC East Championship. Plus, Demarcus Lawrence is on his last legs. Parsons and Garrett would be the best pass rushing tandem in the league.
Los Angeles Chargers
I don’t foresee Khalil Mack staying in Los Angeles, but that doesn’t mean they can’t retain an elite pass rusher opposite Joey Bosa. They play in a division with two other playoff squads: Kansas City and Denver. Garrett could help Jim Harbaugh return to Championship glory.
Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions need an elite player anywhere on their defense. They lacked a play-maker last season, partially due to injuries. Edge rusher Marcus Davenport has never proven to be reliable and stay healthy. Hutch and Garrett could help them finally win in pivotal games in the post-season.
Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams are missing Aaron Donald, but that doesn’t mean they can’t feel a tad better by bringing in another prominent DL. Sean McVay, similar to Jerry Jones, loves to bring in big names. He has traded for Jalen Ramsey, Odell Beckham Jr, and Von Miller before.
New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints are last in cap space, but it’s not impossible for them to bring in an elite DE. Cameron Jordan is blatantly washed up and Chase Young didn’t flash excellence last season. The Saints haven’t made the playoffs in a few years, so they need to bring in a prized asset and find a way to sneak in.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers have a scary DL with Vita Vea leading the charge. I’d still like to see them get a gifted edge rusher alongside Joe Tryon. The Bucs are the most underrated NFC team. It’s time for them to make some noise in 2025.
Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings fell apart in the last two games, but that doesn’t mean we should forget their season as a whole. They have a beast in Andrew Van Ginkel, but I’d love to see another edge rusher wreaking havoc. Their defense will likely miss a lot of talent in their pass defense this off-season between Harrison Smith and Stephon Gilmore. Hence, it’s vital to bring in some talent on defense.
