Best Veteran QB options for the Titans
By: Jake Rajala
The 2023 second-round pick Will Levis has potential to be a super star in this league. However, he isn’t quite ready to be a Pro Bowl-caliber QB. With that said, I’m going to untwine 5 QB options not in the draft that could be an upgrade over Levis and a probable rookie in 2025.
The Titans will most likely draft Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders first overall. However, it may be wise for the rookie to sit and learn behind a quality veteran QB. After all, even Patrick Mahomes sat for a season.
Russell Wilson
After slotting the Titans as a quality fit for Wilson, I have to double down on Wilson being a great match for the Titans. Levis threw 12 interceptions in 12 games last season. Levis also took 41 sacks last season!
Joe Flacco
Joe Flacco is arguably the most underrated QB on the market. The former Super Bowl Champion threw 12 TDs to 7 ints in six games last season. In 2023, he led Indy to a 4-1 record! Flacco is 41, however. Hence, he will likely play 1-2 more seasons at most.
Kirk Cousins
I don’t believe that Captain Kirk is a poor QB. He shouldn’t completely ignored for one rugged season. He led the Falcons to a 7-7 record last season, which isn’t entirely terrible. It appears the Falcons are moving forward with Michael Penix Jr, which should make Cousins expendable.
Marcus Mariota
There are only a few QB options in free agency that should be viewed as a starter right now. After that free agency dip, teams have to trade for their desired QB. Marcus Mariota has been an accomplished QB in this league. Plus, he is 31 years old, which isn’t old in QB years.
Derek Carr
Derek Carr has been shaky in the big easy. He is still talented, but Spencer Rattler may have more upside than Carr. Carr is also quite expensive right now. The Saints may pull the trigger on shipping away Carr before he fails to push the Saints to push to the playoffs.
Honorable Mention:
Jimmy G
The Rams are all in on Matthew Stafford, as he was given a four year extension worth $160 million dollars this off-season. Their isn’t a QB battle in LA, to say the least. This makes Jimmy G somewhat expendable. Jimmy G has gifts as a pocket passer. He just needs to stay healthy!
