Is Kamara washed up right now?

Alvin Kamara has been one of the most dynamic running backs over the past decade. He had one of the best rookie seasons as a RB in NFL history. All he did was record 1,554 total yards and 13 combined touchdowns in his rookie season – which led him to win Offensive Rookie of The Year and earn second-team All-Pro honors.
Kamara didn’t hit a wall after his rookie season, to say the least. He notched 1,592 combined yards and 18 total TDs as a sophomore. His best season arguably came in 2020 where he accumulated a career-high 1,688 total yards and led the league among RBs with 21 total touchdowns.
With that said, there has been moments where Kamara has looked sluggish. He had five games below 44 rushing yards!
With that said, I don’t believe it’s worth hitting the panic button. He had 950 rushing yards last season – which was a personal-best. Plus, he ran for that much yardage in “14 games”! He was also 8th in explosive rating and 12th in dominator rating, according to Player Profiler.
He didn’t make the Pro Bowl, which was shocking. Kamara was essentially absent for some games, but I believe the offense’s struggles hindered the production that Kamara had. The Saints were 24th in PPG.
Most importantly, the Saints weren’t winning many games, which makes everybody look bad. The Saints finished with a 5-12 record, which was their lowest win total since 2005!
Kellen Moore should utilize Kamara quite well. After all, Moore oversaw a RB by the name of Saquon Barkley, who went on to win Offensive Player of The Year. Barkley registered 2,005 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns in 2024.
Kamara has one of the most intense training regimes in the off-season. He also is quite gifted. I expect him to be a star until his contract expires – which will happen at the end of 2026 season.
