Is Tua Tagovailoa The Dolphins Future QB?

Who is the Dolphins Future QB?

Tua had a rocky start to his career. He was benched numerous times as a rookie and replaced with Fitzmagic. Then he turn things around afterward. Over the past two seasons, he has proven to be an effective, wise signal-caller.

In 2023 – he led the league in passing yards with 4,624. He also threw a career high 29 touchdowns. He properly utilized Tyreek Hill, who led the league in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

Last season, Tua only played in 11 games. Nonetheless, he still found a way to be special, as he led the league in completion percentage with a 72.9%. Tua is second all time in completion percentage.

Hence, a question arises: is Tua the Dolphins future QB?

I believe that Tua is their future QB. He has an impressive career record of 38-24. He’s also had league leading stats. Aaron Rodgers had the same TD% as Tua with 4.8 and he threw for 28 passing touchdowns. The true difference between the two is that A-Rod is 41 years old!

He also has similar numbers as Derek Carr. Carr only played in 10 games last season, but he threw for 25 passing touchdowns and had a TD% of 4.6 in 2023! Tua also outplayed Captain Kirk. It’s also important to note that Carr is 33 and Cousins is 36.

With that noted, I don’t believe it’s wise to acquire a veteran QB to replace Tua. I would expect them to draft a QB to take over as QB1. Well, I find that as an issue. Let’s not forget that Tua is a winner and he will most likely not allow the Phins to have a Top-10 draft pick to select a QB to replace him. I’d rather see the Phins draft another weapon or OL for Tua instead of pardoning him.

Tua has gone through most of his growing pains. He is more NFL ready than any QB that would be on the board for them in the draft. With that said, they are prepared to win in their division. They can sweep the Patriots, who have a young, unproven QB in Drake Maye. Furthermore, I would give them the edge over the New York Jets and Justin Fields, who has bounced around a few teams without starting.
