Is it time to trade Christian Watson?

Will there be a Christian Watson trade?

By: Jake Rajala

The Green Bay Packers drafted Christian Watson in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He hasn’t exactly been a force at the wide receiver spot. He has 1,653 yards and 14 touchdowns in three seasons. Last season, PFF gave Watson a grade of 69.1 – which pegged him as the the 59th best WR.

With that said, a fascinating question clouds over Watson: should the Packers trade Christian Watson?

I don’t believe that the Pack should trade away Watson. They would likely not get a significant deal for him. Plus, he is 25, so there’s a lot of room for him to grow. He also can be a quality red-zone target. He is 6’5 and 210. He did shine as a rookie in one area: touchdowns. He had seven TDs as a rook.

Watson also has a legit shot to be the WR2 this upcoming season. To make matters better, the potential WR2 is entering a contract season. He will lay everything on the line. He will likely play through minor injuries that often occur late into the season.

If they do trade him, they could use the late draft pick to select a new WR, RB, or edge rusher. They may even want to find a new QB2 through the draft. They could also sign a quality free agent WR, such as Michael Thomas, to replace Watson.

I don’t foresee the Packers trading Watson. They need to utilize him in the red-zone more often alongside Tucker Kraft, who hauled in seven TDs last season.
