Christian McCaffrey trade destinations

McCaffrey trade spots

By: Jake Rajala

Christian McCaffrey is highly gifted, but he’s not immortal. He had had four seasons where he played seven or fewer games. Furthermore, he is 29 in early June. With that said, I’m going to untwine some trade destinations for McCaffrey if Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch get bold and decide to ship him out.

Cleveland Browns

It was recently widely reported that the Browns will not bring back Nick Chubb. The Browns simply have one of the worst running back groups in the league. Jerome Ford is slightly below average and then it’s a drop-off. The Browns also ranked 29th in rushing yards last season. They will also likely go forward with a 40 year old or a rookie QB, so they need all the help at RB that they can get.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs have played musical chairs at their RB spot. Their starting RB is Isiah Pacheco, who only managed to run for 310 yards, one touchdown, and average 3.7 rushing yards per game. It’s time for them to get a true bell-cow ball-carrier. It would be an understatement to say Patrick Mahomes and CMAC would be the best QB-RB tandem in the league. The Chiefs were also 26th in rushing yards last season. Hence, they need more juice at RB.

Los Angeles Rams

Les Snead loves to make blockbuster trades. Perhaps he will make his biggest trade yet, which is acquiring CMAC. He could be the chip that brings them back to the Super Bowl. The Rams also ranked 23rd in rusghin yards last season. Matthew Stafford can’t afford to take a plethora of hits, as he’s 37 years old. They need to help him stay up right by mowing down foes in the run game.

Minnesota Vikings

Justin Jefferson and CMAC would be quite intimidating for defenses. Aaron Jones is a quality RB, but I don’t believe he’s a true Pro Bowl RB at this stage in my opinion. J.J. McCarthy will also need a security blanket early in his career, which is where CMAC pops in.

Dallas Cowboys

The Boys starting RB is currently Javonte Williams and he didn’t exactly flex his dominance in 2024. He unveiled 513 yards and 3.7 YPC. The Boys just made a trade for George Pickens. Hence, it may be time to be aggressive and bring in more faces to “win now”. Plus, the Boys ranked 27th in rushing yards last season.
