Flaw on each NFC South team
By: Jake Rajala
NFC South teams are far from perfect in 2025. Some pieces hold back the NFC South teams from prominence. With that said, I’m going to untwine the biggest flaws on each squad.
Saints: CB
The Saints traded away Marshon Lattimore in the last regular season. After that, the Saints failed to bring back Paulson Adebo. Alontae Taylor is moving from the slot to outside and Kool-Aid McKinstrey is on the other outside spot. Neither of these faces is comfortable with the outside.
Falcons: QB
The Falcons have superb weapons and quality faces on defense. However, they need a sharp, field general at QB. Kirk Cousins is going to be the back-up. Michael Penix Jr. hasn’t been consistent “in games”. To be somewhat fair, Michael makes some of the prettiest throws among all QBs. I still simply believe that Penix still needs a couple of more seasons to unleash hell.
Panthers: Tight End
The Panthers have a couple of modest weapons, but I’d like to see a security blanket and red zone threat from the TE spot. Tommy Tremble isn’t the answer at TE. He recorded 234 yards and two TDs last season. He has been a bust after being a third round pick.
Buccaneers: CB
Similar to the Saints, the Bucs need to improve their CB spot. I have a feeling the Saints and Bucs will get into shoot-outs, as both of their CBs need to take a big step forward. Zyon McCollum had a couple of ints last season, but that shouldn’t save his soul. He notched a 69.5 PFF grade last season.
With that said, it’s clear there are gaping holes on these NFC South teams. Two of these squads have holes on offense, while the other two teams have flaws on defense. There are still many quality profiles available through free agency and the trade block.
