3 Saints that could switch teams soon

These Saints could move soon

By: Jake Rajala

The New Orleans Saints have been blessed to have chemistry and familiar leaders over the past several years. We’ve witnessed Cameron Jordan, Demario Davis, and Tyrann Mathieu lead this squad. With that said, all good things must come to an end. Hence, I’m going to untwine three Saints that could move teams soon.

Taysom Hill

Taysom Hill isn’t going to be able to mow down defenders forever. Indeed, he will be turning 35 in August. Most RBs take a big dip at the age of 30. Hill should still be a nightmare to tackle in open space, especially from the TE spot. Many TEs play in their mid 30s. Hill isn’t only old, but there will still be quality teams that want him to chase a Super Bowl right now. The Philadelphia Eagles make a lot of sense to land him, given that Kellen Moore was in Philly last season and that Hill has a similar skillset as Jalen Hurts.

Chase Young

I don’t love that the Saints rewarded Chase Young with a hefty contract. He didn’t prove his worth in my opinion. He unveiled 5.5 sacks, 21 QB hits, and eight tackles for loss. These weren’t top-end stats. Young is still 26, so there may be plenty of teams that want to reel in the athletic freak. Plus, the Saints still have Carl Granderson and Cameron Jordan at DE. The edge rusher Matthew Judon is also available.

Jake Haener

Jake Haener is the odd man out of the Saints QB battle in my opinion. Not only is he the third most talented QB (after Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler), but he suffered an injury that will set him back. Haener is still a sharp pocket passer from Fresno State. I believe that the Saints may be able to swap a 7th round pick and Haener to acquire a fifth or sixth round pick.

The Saints aren’t in a rebuilding stage in my opinion. I don’t expect them to ship away faces like Chris Olave, Bryan Bresse, or Alontae Taylor, but they could move on from talented, older faces or pieces that have underperformed.
