Best Keenan Allen landing spots
By: Jake Rajala
The free agent Keenan Allen refuses to lay down at age 33. I suppose he could play for a few more seasons. After all, he registered 1,243 receiving yards in 2023 and then 744 yards with a rookie QB last season. Allen clearly has gas left in the tank. With that said, I’m going to project the best landing spots for him.
Los Angeles Chargers
“Tell the world I’m coming home”
Allen played for the Chargers for a decade! Yes, you read that correctly. He made five Pro Bowls and CPOTY in a Chargers uniform. This time around, he would be playing for Jim Harbaugh who has been one of the most successful “football coaches” over the past several years. Justin Herbert is also playing lights out.
New York Giants
Malik Nabers isn’t a god. They really need more ammunition for Jaxson Dart, who will most likely start. Wan’Dale Robinson isn’t a quality WR2. He only averaged 7.5 YPC on 93 grabs. The Giants are predicted to ink Allen, based on Yahoo Sports.
New England Patriots
The news of Stefon Diggs doesn’t look promising. He was meant to be their alpha male WR. Without Diggs, the Pats need a WR more than any other team. I’d love to see the Pats reel in Allen and show they are ready to compete in a frigid AFC East division.
New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints have been aggressive to land Amari Cooper. If they can’t get him, they should fall back on Allen. Allen can be a possession wideout and a stud in the redzone – as he has 14 TDs over the prior two seasons combined. The Saints still have 24 million in cap space, so they can afford to sign Allen to a short contract.
Cleveland Browns
Allen can be the true WR2 alongside Jerry Jeudy. I don’t believe that Cedric Tillman is the answer at WR2, especially after a less-than-daunting 2024 season (339 yards and two TDs). Sure, he missed a lot of games last season. Well, he still recorded 224 yards in 14 games as a rook.
Allen isn’t a Hall of Fame player. He’s in the Hall of very good players. He is still seeking the right short-term contract. He signed with a below average squad last season, so I wouldn’t be shocked if he signed with a putrid team for a hefty amount of money on a 1-3 year deal.
