Nix could win MVP
By: Jake Rajala
The former Oregon Duck Bo Nix is entering his second season in a Denver Broncos uniform. Expectations are sky-high for the Broncos QB. Matter of fact, I’m going to untwine a few seasons why Nix could win MVP!
- Sean Payton
Nix arguably has one of the best offensive minds in his corner. Drew Brees threw five 5k+ yard seasons with Payton. Of course, Drew also won a Super Bowl with Payton. In NOLA, Payton finished Top-5 in points eight times! NBC Sports dubs Payton as the 12th best HC. He is seen as a quality signal-caller, but I would say he’s a great signal-caller.
- Chiefs
It may sound confusing that I peg the Chiefs as a reason that Nix can win MVP. However, I really believe that Nix can defeat the Chiefs. He defeated the Chiefs by a score of 38-10. It’s worth noting that Carson Wentz and not Mahomes was playing. The other meeting was different with Mahomes. Still, the Broncos only lost 16-14. Josh Allen had a huge boost to his resume by defeating the Chiefs in the regular season of 2024. I suspect that Nix will mark his calendar against the Chiefs and Mahomes and come out with one of the victories!
- Defense
The Broncos led the league in sacks last season! This will only help Bo get the ball back more. Nix can take more deep shots and risks with the football, knowing his defense will assist him. They were also third in PPG allowed! Unfortunately, the Chargers were second in PPG allowed. This only means that divisional showdowns between the two will be intense.
Bo Nix will be the second best QB (after Jayden Daniels) in 2025 in my opinion. I’m not sold on Caleb Williams, who took the most sacks last season. McCarthy also has to shake off the rust. With that said, each young QB has a prominent play-caller, too. Williams has Ben Johnson, Daniels has Kliff Kingsbury, and McCarthy has Kevin O’Connell. I would say that Washington, Minnesota, and Denver have a real chance of returning to the playoffs. It will be quite a challenge for Williams to lead his squad to the playoffs, after he witnessed three teams in his own division reach it last year.
