Chiefs in 2025 outlook
By: Jake Rajala
The Kansas City Chiefs ripped off a 15-1 record last season. They were so close to going undefeated last season. With that said, a pivotal question arises: can they repeat success? A better question would be: what is the best and worst case for the Chiefs in 2025? Well, I’m going to untwine it.
Best case:
13-3
I don’t believe the Chiefs will get 15 wins again. Not only is Travis Kelce on his last legs, but their division got more dominant. Bo Nix was growing throughout last season. I expect him to take a step forward. Let’s not forget that the Las Vegas Raiders added Pete Carroll and Geno Smith. Of course, Tom Brady is helping make those decisions. I also don’t love that teams with a front seven that can get home without blitzing will give the Chiefs struggles, which was shown in their battle against the Eagles and their other recent Super Bowl against Tampa Bay.
Worst case:
10-6
If the Chiefs struggle to sweep their foes in the AFC West, they should still control a lot of games and have a QB who can be clutch in big moments. However, Mahomes is also not playing at an MVP level. They also don’t have enough ammunition at WR in my opinion. It’s also worth noting that Mahomes and the Chiefs went 10-6 in 2023. Hence, it’s possible to slow down KC. The Chiefs lost in the Super Bowl, but they could still have a hangover from the long season.
The Chiefs in 2025 are still a favorite to win it all. After all, Mahomes is like a Michael Jordan-like figure. I believe it will be harder to beat the Baltimore Ravens with their average weapons. It will even be a challenge to go blow for blow against the Cincinnati Bengals. Ultimately, I could foresee the Chiefs finishing in the middle of these two projections, but I don’t believe they have a Super Bowl winning roster.
