Redrafting the 2012 NFL Draft: Top 10 picks

2012 NFL Draft outlook

By: Jake Rajala

The 2012 NFL Draft was one of the most successful drafts of all time. It’s hard to say that there’s any team in the Top-10 that regrets their pick. With that said, I will still try to reflect, go back in time, and pick the best profile for each team in the Top-10. Let’s begin.

1. Indianapolis Colts: Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson has proven to be a borderline Hall of Famer. Wilson won a Super Bowl and he’s also played like a clutch QB for many seasons. He’s made 10 Pro Bowls! He has struggled as of late, but father time catches us all.

2. Washington Commanders: Andrew Luck

Sure, Andrew Luck only played for six seasons. However, he threw 31 touchdowns, 39 touchdowns, and 41 touchdowns in three of his seasons. Luck could make a deep playoff run with one team. All you can ask for is one chance.

3. Cleveland Browns: Bobby Wagner

I don’t believe there’s a QB worthy of going to the Browns here. Meanwhile, Bobby Wagner is a slam dunk Hall of Famer. He’s also made ten Pro Bowls, similar to his former teammate (Wilson). He’s also a six-time first-team All-Pro figure.

4. Minnesota Vikings: Stephon Gilmore

Gilmore proved to be the best CB in the league for a brief time. He won Defensive Player of The Year. At 34 years old, he is still seeking to land with a team that can win it all. I’d love to see him replace Darius Slay in Philly.

5. Jacksonville Jaguars: Luke Kuechly

Lukkkeee. Luke didn’t play as long as Wagner, but he deserves to be a first ballot Hall of Famer. Luke is arguably the smartest MLB of all time. He made seven straight Pro Bowls, after winning DROY. I wish he would have chased a Lombardi trophy with the right team.

6. Dallas Cowboys: Chandler Jones

Chandler Jones can line up anywhere, similar to Micah Parsons. Jones has 112 career sacks! He has been first-team All-Pro numerous times.

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Kirk Cousins

Kirk Cousins could have played a decade with the Buccaneers and he would have saved them from drafting Jameis Winston. Cousins could have Mike Evans, who could really uplift him.

8. Miami Dolphins: Fletcher Cox

Fletcher Cox is also a borderline Hall of Fame profile. Fletcher would be the perfect pick to hold back the Patriots. The key to defeating Tom Brady is getting pressure with the front four.

9. Carolina Panthers: Harrison Smith

It’s insane, yet beautiful that Harrison Smith is still playing the safety spot at 34 years old. Smith is a sure-fire first ballot Hall of Famer.

10. Buffalo Bills: Lavonte David

It’s hard to imagine a more versatile, gifted LB than Lavonte Davis. He isn’t just a run stopper, he is a true play-maker. Similar to many players on this list, he is still playing!
