Davis best landing spots
By: Jake Rajala
It’s official: Gabe Davis is no longer a Jaguar. Now that he is a free man, who is the best fit for the wide receiver? Well, I’m going to untwine five fits for him.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints recently brought Davis in for a visit. The Saints have been aggressive at acquiring WR talent this off-season. They inked former Saint Brandin Cooks and they were still interested in signing another weapon, as they looked closely at Amari Cooper. Davis was in a putrid offense last season. He is still 26 years old and he had 836 yards and 7 touchdowns in 2022, then 746 yards and 7 TDs in 2023.
Pittsburgh Steelers
I would love nothing more than a replacement for George Pickens, also known as a WR who shouldn’t have been traded. If they want to ride off into the sunset with A-Rod, they need to be aggressive. They could sign Amari Cooper, which is a wish by Rodgers. However, Davis is more reliable with his health. Davis is good enough to be the WR2 over Robert Woods. Woods hasn’t eclipsed 600 yards since 2020.
Buffalo Bills
The Bills need a WR and they have chemistry with Davis. He’s also a playoff legend there. Davis could arguably be their WR2 over Keon Coleman (who registered 544 yards and four TDs) last season. They didn’t have a WR with 1k receiving yards last season. Even though Josh Allen won an MVP last season with pedestrian weapons, he wasn’t quite able to carry the Bills in a win against the Chiefs.
Denver Broncos
Sean Payton is a genius and he could put Davis in a similar role that he once used with Devery Henderson, Robert Meachem, and Lance Moore. The Broncos also compete in a division (AFC West) that sent two other teams to the playoffs. Hence, they have to keep their pedal to the metal. Davis could also seek a one year contract with a prominent team, such as the Broncos.
New England Patriots
Drake Maye threw 10 ints and only had 15 TDs to show for it. He also led his squad to a 3-9 record! He’s the worst QB to make the Pro Bowl in a long time. I would have enjoyed to see Mac Jones in a Pats uniform right now. It’s also up in the air if Stefon Diggs will face any type of punishment.
