Where will Jadeveon Clowney play?
By: Jake Rajala
Jadeveon Clowney rocked the world with his hit against Michigan in the Outback Bowl. At the Pro level, Clowney has been hit or miss. As of late, he’s played hungry and desperate for a Super Bowl run. With that said, I’m going to unfold the best fits for him.
Buffalo Bills
The Bills brought in Joey Bosa, but Bosa has serious injury habits. He has only played in 28 games over the past three seasons combined. Gregory Rousseau is okay, but he’s not a freak. The Bills need more talent on their DL, so they can get after Mahomes without blitzing. The Eagles and Bucs showed that was the key to beating the Chiefs.
Seattle Seahawks
A return to Seattle makes a ton of sense. Not only did he make plays in the playoffs for the Hawks, but they need him. He could be a fine complement to DeMarcus Lawrence, who is also at the backend of his career. The Seahawks have been close to winning the division. This type of move could put them over the hump. Clowney vs LT Trent Williams would be quite exciting to witness.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints need a high-end pass rusher. They have three average edge rushers right now. They need to return to the days of bullying the Tampa Bay’s offensive line. The Saints NASCAR package could showcase Chase Young, Cameron Jordan, Carl Granderson, and Clowney! The downside is that the Saints may not appeal toward him given their young QB situation.
Cleveland Browns
Another reunion makes too much sense.
The Browns recently cut Ogbo Okoronkwo, who was one of their top edge rushers. Clowney could fill in his shoes and return to dominating alongside Myles Garrett. The Browns need more talent to stop Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow.
San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers could use a sidekick for Nick Bosa. They drafted Mykel Williams, but I believe he’s more of a project player. Clowney can hit the ground running. Perhaps Williams passes him up at the midpoint of the season. Clowney and Bosa would be quite scary seeing them side by side.
In the end, Clowney will likely seek a contract with a team that could win the Super Bowl soon, such as the Buffalo Bills. Plus, he will likely not get a crazy amount of money at this stage in his career.
