Best QBs in the NFC North
By: Jake Rajala
The NFC North has a rich group of QBs. The worst QBs in the division have more potential than most QBs. Meanwhile, the best QBs have All-Pro potential and a shot to win the Super Bowl.
4. Caleb Williams
Caleb Williams has Pro Bowl potential (as he threw 20 TDs to 6 ints), but I can’t foresee him being a Top-10 QB soon. The Bears were also last in sacks given up last season. I believe Williams deserves some of the blame. The Bears were also 28th in scoring. I don’t love the decision by the Bears to not bring back Keenan Allen. Rome Odunze, who was a 2024 second round pick, could be a modest WR2, but he’s not going to make circus catches like Allen.
3. J.J. McCarthy
It may seem blasphemous to rank fellow Michigan Wolverine J.J. McCarthy over Caleb Williams, given that Williams played. With that said, J.J. has been nothing short of special over the past two off-seasons. The Vikings also chose to stick with J.J. over Sam Darnold, despite Darnold playing like a Top-5 QB in the NFC. This says a lot to me. Simply put, Darnold also outperformed Williams last season, too.
2. Jordan Love
Jordan Love could surpass Goff as the best QB in the division soon. He has Matthew Golden, who is one of the most electric rookies. All he did was run a 4,29 40 yard dash. He also has Jayden Reed and Romeo Doubs. Love threw 25 TDs to 11 ints last season. He also unleashed a 63.1 completion percentage. The big, clear difference between Love and Goff are wins. Love went 9-6 last season, while Goff went 15-2! Love is 26, while Goff is 30 years old, so Love has more of the fountain of youth.
1. Jared Goff
Jared Goff is one of the best stories in football. He was the first overall pick in the 2016 Draft. He struggled to stand out under Jeff Fisher, which is common. Thankfully, he flipped teams to the Detroit Lions. It seemed he was sent there to die. Yet, Goff has put his trust in the situation, and Dan Campbell has set an intense, rich culture. Goff now has Penei Sewell, Amon St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Jahmyr Gibbs. The Lions are now a Super Bowl favorite. It’s also safe to say receiving Matthew Stafford also worked out for the Rams, as they won a Super Bowl.
