Best position group on the Texans
By: Jake Rajala
The Houston Texans have many gifted position groups. The one that catches my eye the most is none other than the running back group.
The Texans have one of the best RB tandems in the league! Joe Mixon is still the lead dog with Nick Chubb in the mix. He had one of his best seasons last year. He ran for 1,016 yards and 11 touchdowns, despite missing a few games! He punched a ticket to his second Pro Bowl. Mixon is also an underrated pass catcher.
Nick Chubb is a bowling ball at the RB position. He’s been a bit injured over the past few seasons, but I still believe his 2022 season is somewhere in him. He ran for 1,525 rushing yards in 2022. He was once regarded as the best RB in the league.
The downside of the Texans RB group is their age. Chubb is 29 and Mixon is 28. They are almost old, when it comes to their position. RBs rarely dominate in their 30s.
CJ Stroud should be delighted that he has one of the best running back groups in the league. That takes pressure off him. He can have shorter third down situations. His play-action can be more prolific.
The Texans were 13th in rushing yards last season. I have no doubt that they will be a Top-10 team in rushing yards next season.
The Texans were fifth in TOP last season. They should continue controlling the game and imposing their will on opponents with Chubb.
I believe the Texans RB group could slightly make up for the lack of talent at their WR spot. Christian Kirk and Tank Dell are an average pair of WR2 and WR3.
