3 potential first year Pro Bowlers for the Steelers

Potential Pro Bowlers for the Steelers

By: Jake Rajala

The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the most well-rounded teams in the league. Of course, they are led by Aaron Rodgers and T.J. Watt. With that said, I’m going to cover players who should take their next step and make their first Pro Bowl.

Pat Freiermuth

The Steelers TE1, Pat Freiermuth, has all the talent. After all, he was drafted in the second round. He recorded 653 yards and seven touchdowns last season. His best season came as a sophomore, where he notched 732 yards. Russell Wilson and Justin Fields combined for 527 passing attempts last season. Meanwhile, A-Rod attempted 584 passes. Pat should have more passes thrown his way.

Derrick Harmon

Derrick Harmon is a safe pick to make the Pro Bowl, even if he is a rookie. The Detroit native was a first round pick under Mike Tomlin in 2025. At 6’4, 315 lbs, he ran a 4.95, which is quite impressive. Harmon should be a game wrecker on occasion with T.J. Watt and Cameron Heyward hogging the attention. I don’t quite expect Harmon to come off the edge.

Joey Porter Jr.

Joey Porter Jr. will garner a lot of passes in his direction, as Jalen Ramsey will usually not be targeted. Targets in Porter Jr’s direction will either mean he will give up a lot of production, or he has plenty of opportunities to shine. He won’t have to cover Ja’Marr Chase or DeAndre Hopkins as the CB2.

The Steelers haven’t had a losing record since 2003, also known as the year that MySpace was launched. It’s not enough for Mike Tomlin to go 9-8, however. They need to take the next step. These three listed players can be difference makers and Pro bowl bound in the upcoming season. It won’t be easy, although, as the Ravens are Super Bowl contenders and the Cincinnati Bengals had a winning record last season.
